Paint Jamestown

Painting your home in a historic color scheme offers a wonderful opportunity to highlight its character and charm. Choosing colors that harmonize beautifully can be a rewarding experience, inspiring homeowners to explore beyond the traditional white palette and create a look that truly reflects the home’s unique style.

Paint Jamestown

Paint Jamestown offers city residents the opportunity to enhance their historic homes by selecting colors inspired by the rich palette used in the 19th and early 20th centuries. These colors are thoughtfully coordinated to work harmoniously together.

This paint program is valuable to homeowners and neighborhoods throughout Jamestown because it enhances the appearance and marketability of the city’s historic housing stock and neighborhoods.

The following color schemes were developed for the Oswego Renaissance Association (ORA) by Historic House Colors (HHC) and are shared with Jamestown homeowners courtesy of ORA. These coordinated paint palettes are freely available in this booklet, providing convenient, ready-to-use options.

Each scheme includes one optional bonus color, which can replace any of the three base colors or be added as a fourth accent—resulting in 250 possible color combinations. Organized into four historic periods spanning 1800 to 1940, homeowners can easily select from these thoughtfully curated palettes.

Each color is identified by a unique name and a four-digit Sherwin Williams code, corresponding to paints readily available at the local Sherwin Williams store. Alternatively, most paint retailers in Jamestown can color-match these schemes for your convenience.
