Jamestown Up Close and Jamestown Renaissance Corporation (JRC) are excited to announce the winners and results of this year’s Shop Small, Win Big contest. In an effort to boost local commerce during the 2019 holiday season, Jamestown Up Close encouraged shoppers to shop downtown from Small Business Saturday through December 18th.

(L to R) Zach Agett (JRC), April Colburn, Kristy Kathman (JRC), Megan Sixbey, Myra Blasius, Gen Potter

This year, 79 downtown Jamestown businesses participated. In an effort to award more prizes and keep the money local, 10 winners received gift cards to a Jamestown restaurant or retailer of their choice, with two $100 grand prize winners. The Grand Prize purchases were made by Angie Hancock at Liquid Monkey and Gen Potter at Taco Hut.

$50 gift card winners included Myra Blasius, April Colburn, Debra Crow, Scott Gould, Joyce Schwob, Jamie Sirianno, Megan Sixbey, and Jeanne Vanstrom. Qualifying purchases were made at Dot’s Gift Boutique, Farm Fresh Foods, Forte, Lafayette Corners, Lotus Healing Center, Nouveau Home Boutique, Sauce, Taco Hut, and The Brindle Barn. Winners chose to receive their gift cards from Dot’s Gift Boutique, Forte, Gialy’s, Jamestown Brewing Company, Sauce, Shawbucks, and Taco Hut

Based on ticket entries, over $117,000 was spent at local retail shops and restaurants that participated in Shop Small, Win Big, an increase of $35,000 from last year’s results.

“When people shop in local establishments, it is a win for everyone – the businesses, the consumers, the community, and the planet.  We are excited that so many people chose to reinvest their dollars in our community, and hope they will continue to do so the rest of the year, not just during the holiday season.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this contest!”  said Kristy Kathman, Deputy Director at JRC.
